Super Stool

IKEA can be a frustrating place to shop. The catalog is full of great design ideas, than you get to the store and everything seems skimpy on size and cheaply made. But occasionally they have a really high quality product at a really great price. One of those products is the bekvam stool.

It's solid wood, paintable/stainable and it ages well. (I've had mine for 2 years and my kids move the stool around all day long — does that count as aged?) Everyone needs a step stool and this one looks good hanging out in the kitchen. Nice and solid, it feels like it couldn't tip over. It has well-designed proportions and is a good height for a spare chair. Best of all, it's only $10. Nice work, IKEA.
