Seventeen Magazine - November, 1981

Stacy of Seven Smooches, who lives in the Chicago area came by the Yudu Nation Meetup and brought me a vintage copy of Seventeen. Quite possibly the most fun thing I brought home from Chicago. My kids have been pouring over the pages, fascinated by the entire thing.

Have you read an old issue of your favorite teen magazine lately? So fantastic. I think I'm going to go see if the library has some good back issues. Thank you, Stacy!

I found a fat stack of early 80's teen magazines behind the high school about 12ish years ago. Amazing! I wish I still had them. . but that was two moves ago.

I love finding magazines like that, especially when it's the same month and year I was born! Can't beat "vintage" stuff!! Does that mean I'm old though??

One month before my birthday, no less! Did they have "trauma rama" back then? It was my favorite feature as a young teen.

I too had a subscription to Seventeen and remember that cover! I remember trying to recreate the look with the sweater dress and legging combo. Thanks for the fun flashback today.

Awesome. Possibly the most amazing thing is the price!

I also remember that issue! That was the year I begged for an Esprit purple & black striped sweater dress with black knit leggings for Christmas (& Santa delivered both with metallic gold ballet flats to complete the outfit!). Yikes!!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Great old mags. Funny to see mauve being introduced. My friend calls the ensuing years "the mauving of America." :)

Have you looked at a current 'Teen mag?! Back in the 80's(cue the toothless, geezer voice) when I had a subscription to Seventeen it was all about girls eating Huge ice cream cones in sweater dresses & innocence. A few years ago I bought my daughter a copy. Ice cream & innocence? not so much anymore.

There was an Illustrated article of how to use condoms, without much of the Why. Hmmm. Did my then 13 year old need to see that? Another issue covered the finer points of French kissing.
Call me a dork, prude whatever... seems that young women these days could use some more "vintage" fashion, real beauty & trauma tips, not a sex manual.
As my now 17 year old says, "just saying..."

No, but I would love to get my hands on old issues of Sassy magazine! Especially, early to mid '90s. That would take me back!

Seventeen magazine is the best magazine for teenagers. You learn a lot about them, and their hobbies, especially.

Seventeen magazine promotes something I disapprove of- no calories diets!

The advices or articles on diets found on Seventeen Magazine, no matter how effective they may seem, can't be compared with those given by specialists in a diet book.
