Tag Sale Shopping
Last Friday I spent half the day hitting tag sales and antique shops with my knows-how-to-spot-a-find, dear friend, Kathryn Carmona. From the first month we moved here, 8 years ago, Kathryn has been my go to source for the best tag sales, estate sales and garage sales in the area. She has an eye for great pieces, and keeps a running inventory in her head of any particular items her friends are looking for. If she spots something she knows you'll love, she'll pick it up on your behalf. I'm not sure how I furnished my house before knowing Kathryn and I wanted to make sure I got one more day of exploring with her before the big move.
As luck would have it, we started in Bronxville at an estate sale, and friends, this was the mother of all estate sales. A total score. We couldn't believe all the great stuff. I wasn't actually shopping (there's nothing like packing up your belongings to make you want to own absolutely nothing), but I did pick up the beautiful blue bottle pictured. How could I pass it up? It was big and tall. It had a B (for Blair) and it was only $4.
I took a lots of photos of our adventure — you can see them all on my flickr page. Thank your for a great day, Kathryn! I will miss our outings tremendously.
Do you frequent tag sales? What's your favorite consignment shop/second hand store/antique shop?

I love antique shops too! I just posted about my most recent visit here. I just love taking pictures as I browse. It's inspiring and good on the pocket book!
I live outside of Boston but have found some very cool antique shops in Wells, Maine. My favorite things are typewriters, kitchen utensils, bottles, and toys!
So my fam. and I just got home from that little Antique shop in Tarrytown--I recognize the 'Dork' blocks...
Hunt and Gather in Mpls, MN - it's the best
I know it isn't the same area that you are moving to...but it is in Colorado! Downtown old Littleton has my favorite antique shop called Pink Attic Cat. It is a little vintage shop where I have never been disappointed. You should check it out when you get settled...and have some time for a drive!
These are gorgeous photos!!! Love everything!
I don't shop much and I haven't found my style yet, but I love the "DORK" blocks! My husband and I are dorks, and proud of it :)
My favorite consignment store is the one I haven't been in yet! When we travel it's part of our city tour to seek out local thrift stores to see what they have.
On a recent trip to Toronto my husband couldn't wait as he was convinced they would have different stuff there. They didn't but we found a ton of great stuff anyway! Heavy suitcases on the way home!
Thanks for the memories Gabby! (sniff, sniff) You are so sweet! gonna miss my girl!
I'd love to find the consignment store in Chicago that offers Emeco chairs at tag sale prices!

I had that very same buggy(in your flickr pics), when I was a child...there is a picture of me, at three, in the itchy wool winter coat and leggings, those red boots(also in your pics) pushing my grandmother's standard french poodle puppy in it. I loved that buggy...thanks for the nostalgia!
Central Avenue has some quaint antique shops. ^_^
