Hallmark Event
I just posted one million photos of the Hallmark Event on my flickr page. About half of those pictures are of art supplies. They had a whole department dedicated to every art supply under the sun. It was like heaven.
At some point, one of the creatives described working at Hallmark as being similar to graduate school for art. They bring 1200 artists together under one roof and give them every opportunity to do their thing. Trend boards, inspiration boards and artistic displays were everywhere. Plus a very-well-stocked design library.
We met writers, designers and creative directors. We got a sneak peek of all sorts of fantastic products about to launch. We had a great time. Bonus for me: getting to spend one-on-one time with Olive. She is the perfect travel companion.
It's hard not to love a company that demonstrates so much dedication to all things creative. And serves Kansas City BBQ for lunch. Thank you Hallmark!

My dream is to create cards for Hallmark's Fresh Ink. I love them!
I have reached Platinum status with my Hallmark Gold Crown card. Seriously. I am a card lover!
And how great is it that Hallmark owns Crayola?
Was the barbeque (that's how we spell it in Missourah) from Arthur Bryant's or Gates? I suppose Jack Stack would be the other option...
Oh my, I love Hallmark Headquarters in Kansas City. I remember going there as a kid and thinking it was the coolest place ever! At that time they had a special Crayola exhibit just for kids--I wonder if they still do something similar. The smell of a new box of crayons still makes my heart flutter!
I worked at Hallmark at the headquarters in KC for over 6 years until I had my first baby and decided to stay home. It is a top notch company! I had a wonderful time working there. I am glad you chose to eat BBQ in KC, I am glad you enjoyed your visit. They still have the kids area, it's called Kaleidoscope.
