London on a Shoestring

I know none of us have travel budgets these days, but I saw this offer from British Airways and would love to take advantage of it. $312 roundtrip plus two free nights in a 3 or 4 star hotel. That's pretty darn good, right?
I've seen much of Europe. But never England. Maybe 2009 is the year to make it happen.

The taxes (nearing $400 per person) are what stops us. Boo.

The "catch" is = extra fees (mainly fuel surcharge @ $300) which are higher than the ticket price!

The GB pound is quite low against the dollar, so now would be a great time to go, even with the airline fees. What would normally be an expensive vacation is a lot more reasonable right now.

Any time I have recently been on a fabulous vacation, I find myself yearning for more, too!

It's very addictive!

My husband and I were drooling over this offer too. I love London (spent a summer there in college), he's ok with it, but we both love to travel. Too bad baby #2 is due in 6 weeks. Too big of a trip for me at this point.

How timely! I was just thinking that I needed to find some way to get myself to London this year. Too bad there aren't any flight offered out of SLC. :(

I also spent a study abroad summer there in London - love London! There is so much to offer of every kind of arts. And the fact that the exchange rate is better right now? Even with those extra fees, it is still a great price!

And the great thing is? Most of the museums are free! And they are GREAT museums. The east Indian food there is great too!

I lived in England for 3 years. You must go to London - it is one of the best cities in all of Europe, only thing better is Italy.

Come to London! Come to London!
I would love to offer up any tips or advice you may need!
(But maybe wait until the Spring, when the weather starts to be a bit less dreary!)
