DIY Pewter Ornaments

For those of you who like to get a head start on the holidays, check out this great make-your-own-pewter ornament kit. You carve the ornament and bake the clay ornament, then send it back to F is for Frank. At that point, they cast it in pewter and send you 4 copies. Fantastic.

What will you make? Something simple? Something detailed? Ornaments for the relatives? Ornaments for your tree?

That would be fun for children to do for Grandparent's gifts, though it might be difficult for young children to do from scratch.

Don't be scared! I have been doing this for my friends and their kids for years. I did it with my niece this summer and she is 5. As adults we think to hard, what should i make, is it going to look good... Kids actually are the best at his kind of thing because they do not think so hard they just make what comes into there head. FYI we have put some patterns in the kit for those who have trouble getting started as well as a number of suggestions on things to use and inspire.
Give a few suggestions and them let them create you will be surprised at what they will do. Plus it always looks great in metal!

Great idea! My boys LOVE crafts and also love to give gifts they've made. (In fact, they have been known to refuse to give gifts I've purchased for them to give someone, opting to make something out of whatever we have on hand instead.)

SOOOOOPER neat idea! I'd love to design my own metal ornaments (but keep the metalizing in house instead of send it off). This is an awesome alternative for those who aren't DIYers ;)
