Boon Hotel

I'm on my way to Broad Summit this morning. It's a relatively small gathering (I believe 28 women altogether) of some of my favorite people in the world — including some I have yet to meet. It's in the California wine country and I'm very much looking forward to it.
We're staying at the Boon Hotel & Spa. Doesn't it look charming?

Attendees are sharing rooms. And friends, I really hope they paired me with my sister, because I'm telling you right now, you do not want to share a room with this morning sick mamma. If I share with Jordan, she sort of has to endure/forgive me.

We used to visit the Albertazzi's in Napa, at 101 Adobe Lane. Nono, Nona and Bardba. They grew tomatoes among their rose bushes, and they sometimes MAILED Daisy a little box of tomatoes or zucchini across the Bay.

We would sit at their kitchen table with the oil-cloth covering while Nono cut slices of salami and bread to go with the fabulous antipasto. He laughed when Dad always refused the wine. Then came "salat," followed by something wonderful--pasta or whatever. When you were so full you couldn't move, Nona would look at you over her glasses and scold, "You didn't eat!! You're too skinny! You didn't eat!"
