Blu Dot
One of our events this weekend was furniture shopping. A most enjoyable outing when one is without one's children. After breakfast at City Bakery (mmmmm, homemade marshmellows), we stopped at ABC to window shop for a new dining table. We have outgrown our current table for 6 — Baby Betty is starting to reject the high chair, which is chair number 7 at our house — so we're searching for a table for 8 or more.
We want something that looks good with the Emeco Navy Chair (luckily, this is pretty much everything) and would be really good with kids. Easy to clean. Easy to care for. Something that would still look good as it ages and gets wear marks. And it's definitely going to get wear marks. Because our dining table is also our art table and our homework table and our wrapping table. . .
Our two favorite tables both came from the same gallery. It's called Blu Dot and it's new to ABC. One is called Strut and it comes in 4 colors and two sizes (I'm drawn to the red and blue).
The other is called Nick and it comes in 2 finishes (right now I'm favoring cherry).
The good staff at Blu Dot spent a good half hour with us discussing children and tables and reality and I am convinced either table would work. At one point it was mentioned that one of the Blu Dot Founders was a father of 4 and owned the Strut table — I'm putting a lot of weight on that. (I don't know which owner it was, but all three graduated from Williams. And one of my favorite people/political blogger/brother-in-law also graduated from Williams. So now I like Blu Dot even more.)
Which table do you like best?

Sorry friends.
I know there were a bunch of comments here with great insights and opinions.
I had to erase and republish this particular post and I lost the comments.
My apologies. I wasn't trying to edit anyone.
