Welcome to Rochelle Greayer
I'm so very excited about this week's Guest Mom, Rochelle Greayer. Rochelle is a landscape designer that specializes in outdoor spaces for children and families. Very cool. She's based in Boston but works with clients all over the country. This is what Rochelle has to say by way of introduction:
I spend a lot of time outside and in other people’s yards and nothing makes me crazier than to see unimaginative children’s toys cluttering up the natural beauty of the landscape. The toys are often ugly and sometimes they seem like a cop out — making it too easy for children to play outdoors in the same way that they would play indoors. I love when I get to see kids explore and enjoy the toys that nature provides — at least the ones that don’t mess things up.
I love the Design Mom blog and am really honored to be a guest mom and write about my career of eliminating faded plastic, and even design-insensitive wood play structures, in yards everywhere. While working to replace them with inspiring, and safe outdoor spaces where children can really get into nature and the whole family can enjoy outdoor time in a well designed space.
For my clients, I have created tree houses, beach inspired sandboxes, ground level trampolines, custom playhouses, child's planting gardens and many other design forward alternatives to rickety swing sets and sun bleached plastic contraptions. I thought I would blog this week about great products and good ideas in my ‘Landscaping Design Mom’ realm.
Well, Rochelle. We're glad you're here. While many of us are in the middle of putting our yards to bed for the winter we'll be glad to have these ideas filed away so we can pull them out post-Holiday-season as we look to spring yard planning.
You can read more about Rochelle and her work on her website.

I'd love to hear about affordable and/or do-it-yourself projects for outdoor "kid stuff"
