Monday Letter — by Guest Mom Nie Nie

Dearest Sister,

Hello to you! Do you think that in order to write for Design Mom, you have to have had more than one semester in college? I have failed already as well.

I am writing you at gorgeous 78-degree weather right now, spring is defiantly here. Do you know what is so lovely about spring in Arizona? Orange blossoms. They smell so divine. I am certain when we die and go to heaven, cloud nine will smell like Arizona in March.

Stuck in a rut with cleaning? My favorite spring-cleaning ideas are as follows:
Go to target and buy Method products. Their slogan? ‘Clean naked’. Biodegradable, PETA friendly, and they come in the most beautiful colors and smells. Oh, and you can clean with Ralphy at your feet and you both won’t fall over dead with all that bleach stench. (Kinda reminds me of Dad, on Saturday mornings)

Spring music. The Marie Antoinette two-discer is a favorite. There is a 80’s-elegant fusion going on there, perfect for spring.

Not to sound like Martha S. here, but do you have a good quality mop, broom and gloves? Heaven forbid you prune up those delicate hands.

As for your wall, I was thinking you could use something by Tamara de Lempicka the Polish art deco darling — particularly ‘Girl Sleeping’…love it!

From one sister to another, what is your spring palette? Peaches? Pinks? What will grace your lids and lips? Let me know, and pray let me copy!

I still have not painted the girls room. Can you believe that! I can’t come to a decision to go with subtle colors and accessorize with color, or spice it up and use a color that will punch you in the face when you see it. What do you suggest?

Maybe you can fly down here and help me paint. We will have lunch and play dress-up with the girls. Reservations will be taken at any time.

I love you,
Kisses,
Nie

Dear Nie Nie,

It feels a bit odd jumping into your correspondence with your sister, but isn't that the beauty of the world wide web?

Two things:

I heart method. (My favorites are the ylang yland shower spray and the lavender all -purpose cleaner.)

I heart Mr. Nicholas's sweet cheeks. Both of them.

Happy Spring,

CW

Ooh, I'm a big fan of Method as well. I'm inspired to clean...let's hope it sticks this time.

So glad to you two are the guest moms this week -that means C Jane and Nie Nie double blogging time, right?

Nie,
Glad to see I can have 2 doses of you and cjane everyday this week! I never can get enough. I have eyed the method line for months and months but never felt that my college life/house deserved such a joyous cleaning supply. But you've convinced me, I've got to get it anyway. Why hold off!

I love the Method stuff just for the smell. I am a big fan of things that smell good. In fact, when I can start to smell the jasmine in the air here I know it is time to pack away the wintery smelling candles and cleaning stuff and time to crack out the citrus and "fresh linen" candles (at Walmart--they smell like clean clothes, Target has a line called "cotton").

Thanks for reminding me to do that.

P.S. Your girls rooms will be wonderful no matter what.... you seem to do both options very well..

Dear Nie Nie, I love Method as well and the grapefruit smell is MY FAVORITE.

Haven't seen Marie Antionette yet, but soundtracks are my favorite, so I will definitely check it out.

Yay for Design Mom having the coolest sisters around as guest moms!

I have lived in Arizona (because G_d made me) in March. Now, I'm not a fan of Arizona ever, really, because it's not my kind of pretty. In the particular armpit of a town that I was forced (by G_d) to live in, there was a strong smell of fertilizer/pesticide/growing lettuce/cabbage/broccoli/cauliflower. What I'm saying is it stunk!...until the orange blossoms came out. You are right; it is a heavenly scent. It's the only thing I like about Arizona, and I hope that somebody (G_d) never forces me to live there ever again. People have put orange blossom in a bottle so that others will never have to go to Arizona.

Nie Nie,

I've never used Method but now I am very curious.

Does it disinfect? Deodorize? Do Dishes?

What are the downsides to all of the upsides that I have read here?

MA was an incredibly beautiful movie and in true Sofia Coppola form, lacking in dialogue...which somehow made it even MORE beautiful!

and just for the record.....Target's method products are amazing! Been using them for over a year now...lavendar all purp...YUMM!
