Monday Letter — by Guest Mom cjane

Dear Nie,

I am nervous to post at Design Mom. What if I fail? I haven't felt design-y lately and heaven above knows that I am not a mom . . . yet. That pretty much means I don't qualify from the get-go. This is most distressing!
It is spring here in Utah. How about Arizona? Do you know what I like most about spring? Spring cleaning. Though, I am still waiting for the adequate energy for that task to hit me in the gut.

Right now I am pre-occupied with changing the Rasterbated icon of Amelie on our wall. (Rasterbator? Who thought of that terrible name! Brings to mind perversions.) Any suggestions? Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz? Her daughter Liza Minnelli in Cabaret? Freddy Mercury perhaps?

How is your new house? Did you go with Cowgirl Blue in the girl's room?

Your Sister,

c jane
P.S. Give Nicholas a fat kiss on the cheeks (both of them) for me.

Dear C Jane,

Oh how I love your Amelie. But I understand the need to change it up a bit. I have suggestions, but first may I tell everyone how smart you are to paint your entire house the color of a good storm? It's one of the things love about you.

As for your fabulous wall. I know you have a thing for Freddy Mercury. But I have a secret crush on Billy Idol. (Everyone I know has a secret crush on Billy Idol. Even the boys.) Nie Nie's suggestion is in excellent taste, of course. But I think Judy Garland as Dorothy would be so perfect against the color of the sky just before a good strong wind.

Happy Spring!

Aunt CW

Good point CW about the storm at Judy Garland. I like how you think my dear Auntie!

I love the Rasterbator. But one issue is niggling: does the Rasterbator care about copyright issues with images?

Hi Kate. This is from the Rasterbator website:
The Rasterbator is an algorithm and no copyright can be based on outcome of an automatic process (as far as we know).

So, no. (As far as I know.)

Cjane.... I haven't had the chance to see your awesome house in person (but everyone says it is divine...). I checked out the gallery of photos on the Rastabator site and it looks like most people printed the picture on regular paper and put it on the wall, yours looks so crisp and clean... what did you do differently? Are the individual papers framed or are you just awesome? :-) If someone wanted to do this, they would want it to look like YOUR Amelie and not like some of the other photos in the gallery. Any tips? (I am thinking that I need to do this for a party that I am catering.....)

I love Freddy. I vote Freddy all the way. There is nothing better than a wall with a rock star on it.

I second Bek's comment. Some of the images in the gallery are awful! What paper did you use?

I'm thinking I need a little something something like this in my craft room.

Well ladies, you flatter me so! First tip I have is to get yourself an OCD husband!
He printed out the image sheet-by-sheet on regular paper using a black and white printer.
Then he taped every piece together from the back. We decided to keep the white lines inbetween each sheet but some family members have cut out the white lines (both looks great.)
Then we tacked it to our wall so that it stays put. We've had the poster on our wall for 2 years now and it's still in good condition.

Bek- this would be so much fun to do for a party! What image are you thinking of using?

I hope you'll share photos of your new poster when it's finished! You have impeccable taste so I already know I will love it.

CJane...that is just paper? It looks so new!! I like the white lines but think that it might now work for every picture...

I am catering a "spring" anniversary party for a couple celebrating their 10th (but they married older, so they are in their late 40's) and I thought that a wedding picture of theirs could be fun, but I was prepared to modgepodge and all kinds of other stuff, but I think that If I used cardstock or even glossy photo paper it would work..

We are also going to have a bash for Nori's official stamp of approval and sealing. I am going to replicate Jordans RS party (wow) and do a picture of our family or one giant one of her HAIR. :-) So many great ideas with this. You are so clever...

I think Freddy Mercury would be fabulous, especially since I'm in deep addiction to MIKA who has "tried a little Freddy...MMMMM!"

I like Rasterbator. I have used it to be a little bit vain for printing out a picture of myself because I'm in love with myself.
