Kitchen Remodel
There is a well-done kitchen remodel in the April/May issue of Home Companion. (I'm putting a link to it here, but I don't think you can access it if you don't have a magazine subscription. Irritating, I know.)
Three things I admire and am filing away for some future time: the stunning light fixtures over the island, the unusual aluminum(?) bistro chairs, and the built in mini-office area — which I think is so smart in a kitchen.

Found you through Holly's Plate. I'm not a mom yet, but really enjoy your blog. Did the article say what the island counter top was made of? The color combination in the kitchen is different from a lot of what you see today. Very fresh.
Very pretty. I love this green too! Very spring!
I adore the lights over the island! File that away in my "someday..." folder!
The warm wood paneling, the lights, the color of the walls. I think that is one gorgeous kitchen.
you can find the chairs at sundancecatalog.com. i've had my eye on them for awhile...
Erinn, that's a good question. I didn't see a source. It just said they made the counters extra thick with a material that mimics concrete.
Rebecca, thanks for the chair source. Sundance scores yet again...
Older Singer, that's crazy. Our first house!! I'm getting all sentimental (tear).
i love the bistro chairs and those light fixtures over the island. such a great remodel, thanks for sharing!
What a great kitchen... it just seems like a good gathering place. I've been in love with those chairs from sundance for a while now, they even come in a stool.
Love the lights over the island--any idea where they're from?
Thank you for posting this. I've been looking for a great picture of an in-kitchen office!
