Ask Design Mom: Hip Shower Curtain

Remember those lovely ArtGoodies block print towels? Well, Lisa, the artist behind the towels sent in an Ask-Design-Mom question:
I've been on the prowl for a hip shower curtain. I wouldn't even mind if there was partial clear vinyl (it would let more light into my dim shower) as long as the design was modern enough. Any ideas would be great. Thanks again! Lisa

Design Mom Answer:
Excellent question, Lisa. I've done one post on shower curtains previously, but it was featuring curtains that would fit in a traditional, classic bathroom. Something modern and hip is a whole different story. I have no secret sources, but I'll share my favorites with you from the usual suspects
:

One of the happiest, light filtering, shower curtains on the market right now is the Ribbon Curtain in warms or cools from Garnet Hill, (also pictured above). Their Yo-Yo curtain is hip as well.

Wrapables has some good options. I like the Paisley Scarf, Bespoke, Chroma Works, Clematis, and Damask (in either red or blue).

Reliable Target has some lovely picks. I like Fern Burnout (hard to see in the pic, but white-on-white and very current), Pieced Nylon Stripe (in reds also), Thomas O'Brien Modern Blue, Kenjo Fabric, and Paisley Vinyl.

Painted Stripe by Martha Stewart Everyday

What about you, Dear Readers, any special sources on hip, modern shower curtains?

I found this idea several years ago, and it has been my favorite...http://www.mark-larry-stuff.com/item.asp?item=sunssho1§ion=bath
The clear pockets let you put bits of art, fun trinkets, pics, whatever in any design you wish, for a completely custom bath curtain. Could work as a cool divider in a kid's room as well.

Can this comment work as an entry in the Nora Flemming giveaway?

Our shower curtain is from Ty Pennington's sTYle collection at sears and we have been quite happy with it. It looks like a cool, striped men's shirt. Yes, Ty Pennington is the biggest tool known to man, but he has pretty great design chops.

Way to read my mind! I've been on a hunt for a decent vinyl modern shower curtain. Thanks for the ideas all!

I've actually been impressed with the Ty Pennington line. I remember that if he had free reign he would always design pieces on Trading Spaces with a Mid-Century Modern flare. When I heard he had a line out I had to drive to Sears to take a look. While his designs are definitely modern, they tend to the masculine and the tailored--love, love, LOVE!

we're a clear vinyl kind of household -- at least in our own bathroom. for the guest room, i feel it's courteous to provide some cover, but for our bathroom, i prefer the add'l light a clear curtain provides.

for the past few years, we've been buying this particular curtain from BB&Beyond that looks like striated glass brick. in searching for it online, i couldn't find it, but i did find this great one, with blue and brown (=love) circles.
