Eau de New York

This morning I was admiring the pretty bottle of perfume Ben Blair gave me for Christmas. It's a scent my friend, Katherine Kaneko, introduced me to just days before we moved to Colorado. And I had been thinking about procuring a bottle ever since. It's really quite wonderful. Bond No. 9, Eau de New York.

I love when Ben Blair gives me perfume. Honestly, I rarely remember to put it on, but when I do, I adore the way I feel. Plus, I always like the image of Ben at the Sak's perfume counter — getting advice and picking out something with me in mind. It's just so sweet.

In light of my New Year grooming resolution, I'm promising myself to be scented and lovely the whole year through. : )

Do you have a favorite scent, Dear Readers? What is it? Are you a perfume girl — or would you prefer chocolate (or jewelry)? Is there a sweet thing you love to do for your spouse?

Really similar - from the Bond No. 9 line - I have So New York and I *love* it. I get so many compliments on it. I got it for my birthday last year and I'm always happy when I remember to wear it.

I'm actually very sensitive to perfumes in general.. itchy eyes, breathing issues, etc. But I do adore the following: wood smoke, apples, pine trees, lavender, my childrens fresh skin after outdoor time, and believe it or not- Swiffer floor cleaner. haha.

Amy - I love that I'm thinking like Karey today. What a compliment to me!

Crystal - I'm a huge fan of the name Ralph as well. : )

noteverstill - When Ben Blair gave me the perfume, two additional Bond No. 9 samples were included. I tried the Hamptons sample and it is divine. Maybe I should explore their whole line.

~Kat~ - I so hear you on perfume sensitivity. During my first trimester I can't stand the smell of pretty much anything. I love that you've figured out scents that work for you.

Rita - I've been tempted to put on a men's scent. I think it would feel like wearing one of my husband's button downs. Maybe I'll try it.

KJ - I like the idea of a scent that makes me feel polished. I'll have to check out your recommendations.

My husband is very sensitive to scents, so I have to be very careful what I put on so he doesn't start sneezing uncontrollably on our dates. : ) I just got Burberry Brit for Christmas and so far so good! We both like the way it smells, and I agree, it does make me feel better when I smell good.

My all time favourite is Chanel Allure but I keep several others to wear occasionally because they take me back to a time and place, a bit like a photo album for the senses! I wore The Body Shop Oceanus perfume oil while backpacking through Eurpoe and Africa and just opening the lid is a wonderful memory, I only ever wear it now when I am on a holiday to preserve that feeling.

I'm looking for my scent. In the past I was Obsession for Men, but I felt I had to change. I tried Cashmere (DKNY), it's almost there, but now I cannot stand it anymore :(. Another day I spent the whole day smelling at a magazine page with an ad (and scent) of Sensuous by Estee Lauder, tried at Macy's but still not sure. On Sak's I've tried Acqua de Parma, loved it, but I was told it doesn't last longer...
My next try will be your suggestion. Perfumes are so important, but they must feel as made specially for you!

vorite perfume is L'eau d'Issey by Issey Miyake. I discovered it in France. My Parisienne friend, Clarisse, had rows of different perfumes and felt naked leaving the apartment without it. We spent hours at the parfumeries collecting samples. I don't wear it as much as I'd like, but I do love it!

I have loved Blumarine II for years, as well as the Vera Wang perfume my husband gave me on our wedding day, but a few years ago I was lucky enough to go on a family trip to France. My mom, sister and I spent a morning creating our own scents at Galimard in Grasse. They guide you through the process of creating your own perfume and then keep your formula on file so you can re-order anytime. I LOVE all three of my scents and being able to select one to suit my mood!
