An Outfit for Fall — by Guest Mom Allison Czarnecki

I live in Utah, so I live for sweater season. You would too if sweater season started in September and lasted until May! Anyway, it's finally time to pull my old favorite sweaters from the back of the closet so I can mix the wardrobe up a bit.

I have a new favorite cardigan already, and I thought it would be fun to share an outfit I've come up with using the sweater. Longer, cardigan sweaters are all the hotness this season. Pair them with skinny jeans or leggings for a perfect all-around-town look.

What do you think, are you a fan? I have a feeling I'm going to live in long sweaters, leggings, and boots this Winter. And that's a good thing.

I love the fall - for skinny jeans and sweaters to be exact! Skinny jeans draw the attention to the long lanky legs, while the sweater uptop hides the muffin top. Ahhh . . . sweet camouflage! :D

Azucar,

Wearing a sweater is like getting to wear a blanket to work. Only more fashionable.

Raychill,

Your long, lanky legs yes? Muffin tops always need a little, uh, camo.

Yes, I love sweater season.

Ooo, maybe they'd make the "snuggie" into a sweater top! I'd wear that to work!

I would love the look of skinny jeans tucked into those boots, but I'm thirty-two year old mom of two and not sure if I can pull it off. Is the jeans in the boots okay if you're not a twenty-something L.A. socialite?

100% a fan of this look. Question: is every body type made for boots? I'm not tall but also not short at 5'5" and I always feel like boots don't look right on me. I also have huge feet (size ten). So I feel like boots make my feet look even larger. I've just never had luck with boots but love the idea of them. Suggestions?

I love my Lands End sweater. My teenage daughter tried to steal it from me but I wasn't having it. I'm dedicated to sweaters with pockets and can't wait to try it with jeans at a cool, morning water polo game. Great idea!

i'm so on board with the skinny jean + boots idea. it was my uniform last winter too! love it!

also, consider the adorable crocheted ugg boots...they're like walking around town in your slippers....only much much cuter.

Make and Takes,

I was just thinking the same thing! But this is an *acceptable* form of the Snuggie.

Becca,

I'm the 32-yr-old mother of two, and I totally tuck the *right* kind of jeans into my boots. You can pull anything off with the right swagger.

Jyl,

Let's go shopping and I'll teach you how to do this outfit for less than $50.

Sharon,

You don't have to be tall to pull this off, just get shorter boots, you want the dimensions to look right. I have size 10 feet too, and you can ABSOLUTELY pull it off.

Keri Jackson,

I'm not your *skinny* mom. In fact, I pulled this look off without skinny jeans. Just dark, fitted jeans look amazing, I promise.

Palymama,

The thing about this sweater is that you get the benefit pockets {perfect size for a cell phone btw} without the bulk. I don't need more bulk around my middle, and this sweater is slimming.

Jill,

It's a really flattering look, I love love love it. The boots? TJ Maxx has some seriously cute ones right now....

Tara,

I know. The leaves and the crisp air. Football games. Happy Happy.

My 23-month-old saw that sweater and said "It's a beeeeeeeeeee." Just add an antennae headband and you're all set for Halloween!

For a slimmer look to the jean w/o going to skinny, try straight leg jeans--very forgiving for those of us who do not sport gazelle legs.

Love talking fashion! Am I the only one who has trouble shoving my jeans into boots (Frye "Harness" is what I am working with?

I am pretty short so my calves never hit boots right and are already a little tight before I go trying to shove jeans in them (even skinny leg). I have even thought of "modifying" a pair of jeans so that they are much shorter and can be tucked in without all the bulk.

Another Utah mama here, but girlfriend... it was 90 degrees here today! (Or maybe it just felt that hot because I was cleaning.. lol). I'm not quite to sweaters yet. Although I did pick denim capris today rather then shorts. ;)

TX Girl,

They are, they were on the website last night when I looked. Super foxy huh?

TwinMamaLoves,

Start with shorter boots. Unless you're at least a certain height, those boots might look wonky. Get some shorter ones, some pants that can taper {seriously, some good leggings can be your new best friend,} and you'll be ready to rock it!

Nancy,

You better believe it's time for moms to do some back to school shopping. You deserve some new duds for the new year too!

Steph,

Give it a week. I wore mine to the storytelling festival over the weekend and was perfect with the weather. Honestly, give it a week and we're off into fall.

So what kind of pants/jeans can you tuck into fuzzy-topped boots besides skinny jeans? I just can't bring myself to wear the skinny jeans. It's not my age, 39, it's just one of those fashion things I don't really dig.

Donna,

Fitted jeans. Frankly, even boot cut jeans can be tucked if you have the right boots.

Crystalyn,

I can't either, but you've gotta love the change of pace. And the scenery!

Kim,

Do not be fooled by the photo. You see my top half, not my, er thighs. Still, the look is flattering, even for those of us who don't have *gazelle* legs.

I agree the look is great, and has been all over Europe as I've explored around over the last couple years. (Although probably not the best look for me... My legs are chunky enough without chopping them off below the knee with a boot... Does not do much for elongating the leg and balancing the thigh..)

However, should we be a bit concerned that we all wore this last winter? What's the NEW and upcoming look going to be? That's what I'm wondering this winter. :-)

Rachel,

Another really good option with this outfit is ballet flats. Those won't cut anything off. In fact, you can wear it with heels if you like.

I'm not worried at all. The long sweater + leggings isn't really *last season* at all.
