Labor Day Weekend
This is it, folks. Last official weekend of Summer 2009. Big plans? Keeping it laid back? Both sound equally appealing to me.
On my weekend to-do list:
-Paint the rocking chairs.
-Work on Olive's birthday invitations.
-Find a desk for Ben Blair.
Speaking of Ben Blair and summer, he sometimes tells a story of living in Greece and trying to survive a long, hot summer. At one point, he took the biggest watermelon he could find, split it in half lengthwise, gave half to his buddy. And they both proceeded to eat the entire thing in one sitting.
I think that sounds like a good Labor Day plan. We'll pick up a bunch of watermelons and each kid can attempt to eat an entire half. Followed by a thorough hosing down on the lawn. : )
Have a fantastic weekend!

Sounds like a good plan! :)
Have fun.
oh man- that makes me think about when i was pregnant with my second. i was in my third trimester and it was summer...in texas. all i ate that summer was watermelon. and i would eat a whole one in a day. i remember yelling at one point 'no one touch the watermelon!!!' all crazed.
and my little man loves watermelon now. i tell him that it's because he is half watermelon/half human. he seems pleased with that!
happy labor day!
Have Fun! Happy Labor day!
Delicious! I hope you get all your "to do" list done, as well as plenty of time for fun.
my college roommate went to moscow on her mission. she said every night for a few weeks in the summer they'd get off the metro, buy a watermelon, go home, split it, and eat it for dinner. she said it was the only thing they felt like eating!
my husband has eaten an entire watermelon... in one sitting... it was- scary.
I did that once when I was pregnant...I was up all night using the facilities. They don't call it "WATER"melon for nothing! ;)
Now that is a fantastic idea! The yummiest fruit to celebrate the end of summer.
It's been fun to stop by your blog. Hope you're having a great long weekend, Catherine x
I'd love to know where you find a desk--we've been looking for the perfect one for our home office and have yet to find it!
Nice shot of that watermelon---great color.
And I'm impressed you got all that painting done. We once painted our baby crib a barn red. It took forever--all those separate slats.
