Dreams Tulum
I'm thinking about next week's trip. Our first four nights, we're staying at Dreams Tulum.
And can I just say, that one of the funnest parts of this trip is that I had no responsibilities in planning it. My sister-in-law Liz (and her trusty travel agent) arranged the whole thing. Which means that what this hotel is like or where it is or what it offers will be a complete discovery for me. I just get to show up and enjoy. And not have to second guess anything.
When life gets so full, it seems like the best vacation of all is to not have to think. : )

what I'd give for a few hours where I didn't have to think: about keeping my husband organizes, about play groups, about potty training, about meal planning, about errands, about mopping, about OB appointments, about naming a baby, about anything from the major to the mundane. I'd really rather just barely think about how wonderful the sunshine, the surf and a pedicure could be!
If you are in Tulum, you should go see the ancient Mayan Ruins(aka BOM ruins)... it was the best experience of my entire life. We had a tour guide named Helaman from Helaman tours who was so incredibly knowledgeable and explained how things from the BOM times I could never imagine, the symbolism was amazing, it was something I will never forget and it is on the list of things I must do again.
Gabby--
when you are in Tulum, make sure you eat at Posada Marguerita. It's in Tulum Beach. I know you will love it. Right down the road from the Tulum ruins.
We were just there in mid November.
Ooooh--I want to jump into that picture!
Ooooh, Gabby! Could there be anything more MAGICAL than this? This place is so lux and so dreamy and I'm sooooooo happy for you! I hope it's just you and Ben Blair, if not, looks like you can create a lot of alone time with that spectacular kids club. I'm drooling over this place.
Way to go Liz!
That looks beautiful!
That looks heavenly! And not having to plan or think? Even better.
We have stayed at Dreams Los Cabos...one of the nicest all-inclusive hotels we have ever been too. I am jealous! You will love it. The hotel is very decadent!
Dreams Tulum is awesome! Make sure you take the local bus into Playa De Carmen, that is a very interesting expiernce!
My husband and I backpacked through Mexico in 2000, and our visit to Tulum was unforgettable. The beach was the most beautiful I've ever seen -- pristine with gorgeous blue water and soft sandy beaches with the Mayan ruins on a cliff above.
The area was also very very undeveloped. We stayed in a beach hut with stick walls and a dirt floor. I got the worst food poisoning from some bad guacamole, and we had to take a taxi in the middle of the night to a hotel miles away, where I was in bed for three days.
If I return to Tulum one day, I hope it will be to stay in a place like the one pictured here! Have a great trip!
snorkle in cenotes in akumal. It is an actual lagoon that feeds in the ocean. It is like being in fishtank. My most favorite place in mexico!!
This is my favorite vacation ever - I love this part of Mexico. Been a few times with husband and friends as well as with the kiddos and it never fails to disappoint.
I'd suggest visiting Coba and climbing the pyramid - such a great experience.
If you are interested in seeing some pictures from our trip in August to get some ideas of things to do come visit

Make sure you check out the spa as well! Try a couple of the ancient Mayan healing treatments, simply outstanding and truly relaxing! And like others have said, you must go and visit the ruins the view is stunning!
