This is me Journal

I try to be aware of my middle child, Olive — they say middle children tend to get less attention. Yesterday she was having a bad day, so I pulled out a new journal I have been meaning to give her. She loved it. Could barely put it down. Wanted to work on it the rest of day and would have slept with it if the thought had crossed her mind.

It's called the This Is Me Journal and it was developed by a mom and intended to make a record of one year of your child's life. It combines drawing, writing and simple scrapbooking. Designed for 3-8 year olds — Olive is 6 and could work on it completely self-directed.

My favorite page is the hair page (the one Olive is working on in the photo above). It has space for your child to draw 4 different hairdos: when I wake up, after it gets brushed, when it's fancy and in my dreams. Perfect!

What a great idea! I love these journals. Oh, and I might add that Olive has quite a knack at drawing hair! Love the fancy "do"!

How cute! I had a similar book when I was 7 -- my father just found it a few months ago. It is just about the funniest thing I have ever seen! Apparently I really like to rollerskate -- I wrote and drew about it on every page.
The best part, on the page that asked "What you will always remember about this year" I said "Christine [my sister] is mean. I will never forget" Oh, the things kids say.....

What a great book!!

And, on behalf of middle children everyone, let me thank you for giving her a little special attention!

I always felt like as a middle child I got all the bad parts of being an older child, all the bad parts of being a younger child, and none of the good of either! But it looks like Olive is finding some good in it after all!

I love that you have a daughter named Olive. My great grandma's name was Olive, and if I have another daughter Olive is her name.

I love it! And I love your blog.
How you do it all...??
