Porch Update
Ben and I made good progress on the porch upgrade this weekend.
1) We dug out a stump and replanted one section of the landscaping.
2) We removed the screen door and prepped and caulked the main door for painting.
3) We picked up the paint (a lovely shade of green) for the main door. Plus white for the trim.
4) My gardening guru friend Linda helped me pick out flowers for the pots. I've decided to go with all reds this year.
Today, my plan is to order the doorbell, the mailbox, and the house number:
Although I'm still considering these house numbers from Design Within Reach. But I'm wanting something big, and the first option is definitely bigger. Hmmm.
Hopefully I'll be ready to share pictures of the finished porch next week. But I'm not making any promises.

Great choices!
Gabby--
You could also go to woodlandmanufacturing.com and order custom numbers in your choice of font, size, etc. they also have a million enamel color options if you want them in a great color. i just got the matte satin nickel. they are cast aluminum and i had them made for my home when we first moved in. anyway, they are way less than the DWR neutra numbers (which i really wanted). i chose ribbon font and they are about 9-10 long---and were only $27/each. A steal, if you ask me.
Love it!!!
I don't need a porch remodel, but we are bricking in our TINY back garden. I wanted to put plants in pots but have no idea what goes with what...maybe a good DM post would be "how to plant a pot" or something like that....
Gabby:
Thank you for such a great blog. I am shopping for house numbers right now and I just wanted to point you to the following link. I think you would love all of the house #'s posted here...I am really digging the solar ones. Let me know what you think.

Enjoy!!
Great choice Gabrielle. You are so good at finding good things.
Can't wait to see the pictures.
Oh... these are nice!
Rachel, Stringbing, thank you both for the house number suggestions. I'm going to go scope them out now. . .
And Bek, I love the idea of a planting guide. I'll see if I can enlist one of my gardening expert friends.
I want the Neutra numbers badly. Hmmmm.....a new roof, new appliances, a new paint job, a new house......
