Stuff Sara Loves — by Guest Mom Sara Stratford
The things I love change constantly... but here’s a short list of what I’m into right now.
Five years ago my husband bought me a red leather Kate Spade wallet. I promised him I’d never need another wallet for the rest of my life. Apparently, I lied, because it’s now completely thrashed. I’ve had my eye on this Comme Des Garcons wallet ever since my friend Amy got one. I’m thinking it would be the perfect Mother’s Day or Anniversary present. Travis, are you paying attention? How great would this wallet look, coming out of my new purse?
Since the new purse is strictly for kids’ free outings, I’ve been seriously considering my diaper bag options. I have a killer bag from one of my favorite stores, Brooklyn Industries that should be perfect. I bought it several years ago, thinking another baby or two might be in my future someday. But it’s pretty large, and the idea of lugging it into the grocery store or Target along with an infant in his car seat isn’t going to work. I think I might go with a tiny messenger bag from Manhattan Portage to keep my keys, chapstick, wallet and cell phone close at hand. I used to have a camouflage one that I wore until it fell apart, but this time I’m leaning towards the brown.
Veronica Mars. Have you seen this show? I never thought I’d find a show I love as much as My So-Called Life, but Season 1 of VM proved me wrong. I highly recommend you get the DVDs and watch them as soon as possible.
This perfume by Fresh smells exactly like lemon drops. I love it. I also really like Beach by Bobbi Brown, which is the perfect summer scent. It smells like sunscreen, but better.
My Bella Band has saved me. It smoothes out my stomach, holds up my pants, and lets me wear shirts much shorter than any pregnant woman ever should. Plus it offers a small amount of support. I couldn’t live without it.
It’s going to be a fun week! I can’t wait to share my ideas with Design Mom readers, and see what suggestions you have for me.

Sara, I'm so excited your the guest mom! I love the bella band too. I just bought mine and it's a lifesaver. Good luck with everything! I'm excited to read more.
I heart Veronica Mars as well. My friend Josh, who sporadically keeps an excellent TV blog, recommended the show last fall and I've become a total fan. Does anyone know when new episodes will be back?
i'm glad you posted about the manhattan portage bag- I have been feeling mine is too adolescent for a mommy, but I have renewed pride in my diaper bag.
I think smelling like Lemon Drops sounds lovely. :)
New episodes of VM might be never, :(, thanks to the unexpected success of that Pussycat Dolls show.
I was a devoted Veronica Mars fan during the first season (didn't see the 2nd, though...how was it?). And she's so darn smart. But I didn't know any other moms who watched it. Glad to know you are out there!
Sara, let's talk MSCL. I loved that show and watched every rerun on MTV.
This week is going to rock! Everyone knows Sara is one of the coolest gals around.
if veronica mars gets bumped for the pussycat dolls, i might have a breakdown.
of course, i've never seen the pussycat dolls show. is it worth watching? (see how fickle i am?)
Sara! What a pleasant surprise I had when I saw your picture and post on Design Mom today! I knew you back when you lived in Evanston! I am amazed that anyone could have a house as uncluttered and clean as yours (in reference to the pics on Design Mom back in Feb). How do you do it???
So excited for you to teach us...how have a beautiful, organized and clutter free home. I for one... could use the help!
I'm going to have to get that lemon drop stuff... and wish I knew about that belly band when I was preggers...
Happy countdown 'til labor!
DM - thanks for the plug. I am writing a new blog tonight because of your link.
Here is the status with Veronica Mars: There are basically two options at this point. Option One: It will be canceled. Ratings have not been good this season and that Pussycat Doll show didn't help. Option Two: The show will come bcak with an entirely new format. It will jump forward in the future four years to when Veronica has already graduated from the FBI academy. It would be seriously recast, as she would no longer be in college. (Can we keep her dad, Logan and Mac though?) I vote option two, because I don't need to see anyone who can sorta sing and sorta dance try out to be in a sort of band.
Sara, great to see you on Design Mom! I'm looking forward to your posts.
It's disgusting to think that such a strong female character as Veronica Mars would be cancelled in favor of a truly trashy piece of reality TV that objectifies women to an extraordinary degree. It could happen.
I wish that more people would have watched VM. I begged and begged people to start watching. It's too bad that a good role model loses to Bratz Come Alive.
P.S. Veronica Mars will be back to finish this season's run on May 1st. Still no news on another season.
