Diaper Bags (first posted 8/14/06)
I've noticed I become more anti-gear with every child. The less I have to carry, the better. For example, I rarely pack a full change of clothes for the baby when I go out — a simple onsie will work in a pinch.
My current bag contents (updated since original post):
-1 Water bottle (we are a share germs family)
-sunscreen
-1 oscar-size diaper
-1 betty-size diapers
-ziplock bag of wipes — 10 is plenty for a typical outing
-ziplock bag of pretzels/crackers (If I have all 5 with me, I'll just bring the whole box)
-1 pacifier
-wallet
-cell phone
That list is all I need through almost any outing. And if plans change mid-outing and I need something else, well, this is suburbia — I can either run home or stop at Target or borrow from a friend.
I've also discovered I prefer a big open bag without a lot of compartments. The one pictured above would be perfect for summer.

I love your condensed version of most diaper bags...I am expecting in August and my youngest will be 4 1/2 by the time she is born and I used to carry a multi-pocket every compartment packed diaper bag and definitely don't want or plan to do it this time round.
I also love the idea of the big open bag with all the contents inside in individual bags.
I actually create my own purses, if you want to check them out I posted a few pics on my blog to share.
Thanks for sharing and for all of your great tips daily!
