Mammals on Ramps (first posted 7/16/06)
If you've had the chance to wander around Prague, there's a 90% chance you noticed a toy shop full of wooden toys with tons of them hanging from the ceiling. I say 90% because I think there are like 50 of these shops and Prague isn't that big.
In one of those toy shops, we bought two things. One of them was an elephant that walked down a ramp.
The elephant was well-loved by children and adults and eventually broke from all the affection. I've searched and searched and finally found the same one here. There are other animals available, but the elephant is far and away the best looking and, I think, the animal one would most want to see walking down a ramp.
I don't know if anyone is stocking these in the states, but they should, because I want to buy one for everyone I know.

I love the toy shops in Prague. We bought a man on a bar who flips over it differently everytime. Also a cool train that falls through a vertical maze. I guess we missed out on the elephant.
they sell these at the lucky wang store in soho. maybe not exactly the same, but very similar... or at least they did a year ago. here is the info: 799 Broadway (between 10th & 11th) / New York, NY 10003 / Tel:212-353-2850.
We have a lady bug on ramp that we bought in Prague. A favorite toy of the whole family.
Okay, this is creepy. Just this morning I was wondering what it would be like to take the kids (all three of them) to Prague.
We have friends who've been there, but none of them have kids; you've successfully convinced me to go for it. And to look for that store!
Of course if it was a total nightmare, I'd hope you might warn me. ;)
They have these in the Baby Einstein dvds... I think they are adorable toys.
