Music Snobs
Recently, I had to answer a few questions about each of my kids for a church project. One of the questions was: What is his/her favorite music group?
Ralph, age 9, answered: U2.
Maude, age 7, answered: the Killers.
Olive, age 5, answered: Sufjan Stevens.
Am I raising the next generation of music snobs? You can read more of my thoughts on the subject at NY Metro Parents Blog

i loved reading your post on ny metro parents blog but didn't know if i could comment since i'm not a "ny metro parent".
anyway, i hope when my kids grow up that they will have a wide range of music appreciation. that is cool that your kids do. and i think you've inspired me to check out jt's cd.
that is so cool olive loves sufjan
Not snobs, just kids with great taste!
great post, gab, being that i am technically challenged, i cannot comment on the my metro parent site. i've registered and all, but can't find my way back to your blog...don't laugh at me, just know that i've been reading and love what you have to say...
Can I just tell you how exceptionally sad I am that I was out of town and missed the Moda Home Tablecloth Giveaway?
Compulsive, it ends tonight at midnight — you haven't missed it!
How much do I love your kids.
I have always been the music nerd that knows nothing about music. While I was dating Drew I asked him if Duran Duran was a group or a guy and I don't even remember his answer. That was also the first time I had ever heard Duran Duran along with many others. So your kids are so much cooler than I am. Maybe they can teach me something. I love your NY metro blog.
abbynormal, it always nice to meet another Sufjan fan. My sister Jordan (at Oh Happy Day) introduced my brothers and sisters to the fine work of Mr. Stevens.
anniepall, please comment anytime! And I'd love to hear what you think about JT if you check out his cd.
Liz s, Olive was just born cool.
lchan, I'm crossing my fingers that you're correct.
Jenni, you're one of many that have reported difficulty making comments over at NY Metro. I'll see if I can figure out a fix.
Queso, this is me, sending love back at the Hurricane.
Eryka, your Duran Duran comment is classic!
Yay! So I didn't win, but somehow I'm much happier knowing I got to enter. Isn't that odd?
this post inspired me to axe the kiddie music today and bring on the rock. afton loves OK GO!
