Valentine Craft Supplies
Guess who's ready to get her craft on?
Remember making Valentine Mailboxes as a kid? It was my favorite part of the Valentine holiday. I would ponder what I was going to make for days. I remember one year I crafted a sheep out of a round oatmeal container — I made curly wool by carefully rolling strips of paper around a pencil. It was awe-inspiring. Well. For whatever reason, the tradition of making your own mailbox has largely been abandoned at my children's school. We've never once been asked to make one.
Until today! Olive has a Valentine box due on Monday and I am stoked. We've gathered all sorts of Martha supplies at the ready. Ribbons. Glitter. Stickers. Punches. We are good to go. If we decide we need more stuff, expect to run into us at Michaels.

I'm so envious! I made my daughter's school valentines weeks ago and I have no idea if they will be celebrating it at her preschool. and I NEVER get this kind of thing together early!
Oh my! I didn't even think about using an oatmeal container to make a little Valentine mailbox. I LOVE your sheep idea, and will probably steal it in homage to Design Mom. Thanks for the inspiration! We were just at Michael's yesterday and were drooling over the awesome MS Valentine's stuff. I think another trip is now on the to-do list.
i used those exact same stickers on the valentine box i made last week! (you can see it on my blog). they are so much better in person-i want to stick them everywhere!
Valentine's Day is my favorite. My daughter and I already made plenty of candy necklaces for her classmates, now we're working on hand made cards. So much fun!
I would love this - I need a pick-me up right now. I'm inspired now to sit down with my daughter and make Valentine's this weekend.
Looks like fun!
so much fun! please post a pic of the final product :O)
So cute! Why is it that just looking at pretty craft supplies makes me happy? Your sheep mailbox sounds adorable :)
Sounds like so much fun, and you'll make wonderful memories!
I loved making Valentine boxes! I always had huge plans for my mailbox. My great mom usually indulged my creative whims... Hopefully I can be the same for my kids.
I loved the Valetine's Day mailboxes. Sad that they don't make them much in schools anymore--what is the world coming to?
I've bookmarked your post on homemade Christmas gifts between your kids--so, so clever and adult-friendly, too! Will you do something similar for Valetine's Day? I'm looking for a few (simple, I'm short on time) V-Day crafts.
p.s. Isn't the Martha craft line spectacular? I could buy out the lot. Practically makes the craft by itself!
I loved making Valentine's boxes too! In the sixth grade, when everyone was into designer jeans, I made a pair of jeans with a heart on the back pocket out of two oatmeal boxes and paper mache. I wish I still had it!
