Antique-ing
Friday morning, my friend Kathryn and I had a window shopping date in Tarrytown, NY. We started with hot cocoa (topped with whip cream, of course) and hot almond croissants at Chiboust, because the store she wanted to show me — Pretty Funny Antiques — wasn't quite open yet.
The croissant was so good, that I started to have low expectations for the antique shop. This was unwise. Because the shop was amazing. Picturesque. Delightful. It filled my mental inspiration well to overflowing. And then some.
It's one of those shops where the owners understand how to edit the collection down to just the very best. And most of all, how to display items to their best advantage. So as a customer, every time you turn a corner or walk into a new room you either catch or breath or giggle like a school girl.
Great displays from far away.
And great detail close up. I had to buy two of the green and silver stars. They were absolutely irresistible.
Plus. When I whipped out my camera, they didn't mind a bit. Which means I get to share some of the beauty right here on this blog. Also. They don't seem to have a website, but I did find some photos of the shop on flickr.
Aren't these cloth-strip balls wonderful? A pretty baby/toddler gift.
I thought this was such a smart way to display a pretty rug for sale — mental note if I ever need to sell a rug. Other mental note to me: do not start selling rugs, please. Focus.

I love antique black leather chairs (my favorite is in my bedroom). Any photos of the two chairs on either side of that rug? Please?!?
I just mapquested Lexington, MA to Tarrytown, NY and might have to make a trip some Saturday! I love antique shops. Especially on the east coast.

That is quite the interesting book title...any idea what it is about?
The book is about hand lettering, and has mostly groovy stuff from the 70's! hmmmm....didn't think anything of the title-can't go there!
AHHH! Husband M and I are headed to NYC in 2 weekends!
