Book of the Week — Robert Sabuda's Christmas Pop Ups

If you don't have any Robert Sabuda pop-up books in your library, Christmas is a perfect time to acquire one. Pop up books are generally non-stop fascination for children and Sabuda's are no exception. Children can't get enough of them. And neither can adults. These aren't the pop-up books we grew up with. They're a whole new level of intricacy and details. A whole new level of cool.

Mr. Sabuda has several winter/Christmas themed options.

The 12 Days of Christmas

Winter's Tale

The Night Before Christmas

Christmas Alphabet

You really can't go wrong with any of them.

And speaking of super-cool pop-up books. Look what Ralph is getting for Christmas:

Star Wars Pop-up Guide by Matthew Reinhart (one of Mr. Sabuda's pop-up colleagues).

Ooooo, I am debating getting the Star Wars Pop-up Book. My son is only 4, but obsessed with Star Wars. So is his Dad. Okay, it's now on the list again. Thanks for the little push!

We have read some of the books in school, and the popups are absolutely awesome! It's hard to imagine that they can actually popup, they look so complicated, but so totally AWESOME!!!

We have Winter's Tale and The 12 Days of Christmas. They are always a hit. I also bought Mommy? (Sendak, Yorinks, Reinhart) last Halloween and it has ended up being an all year round book.

I went to a Matthew Reinhart and Robert Sabuda book signing last weekend at Books of Wonder. It was so much fun...both were so nice! Matthew drew either a little head of Darth Vader or Boba Fett with his signature. Even my husband is getting one. When he saw the ones I ordered for his nephews, he asked if he could look at it! And I have Sabuda's Alice in Wonderland, Wizard of Oz, and new Chronicles of Narnia for myself. They're amazing.

ooooh! Thanks! We have started a collection of children's Christmas books, the idea being that each evening in December we read a different one, leading up to Christmas Eve and the biblical account. We only have 12 right now, and no pop-ups! I must add one to our collection. Visit me at sassypiggy.blogspot.com.

I just got the popup book called "One Red Dot" by David A. Carter for my baby boy for Christmas. It is so modern cool and the shapes are awesome for his development. You could almost set this one out on a coffee table on display.
