Lullaby — by Guest Mom Rachel Jones
I have an affinity for great music. While prego, a neuroscientist I met instructed me to listen to three to five soft classical pieces for about twenty minutes a day near my belly. When my daughter was born, those same songs really did calm and soothe her. Coincidence? As my little one has grown, I have expanded her musical experience further with various lullaby mixes I've created. Below are a few of my favorite tracks. Go and create your own lullaby mixes! They are not only soothing for babies, but also for grown-ups as well.
1: Kate Rusby - Who Will Sing Me Lullabies
2: Sophie Meriem Rockwell - Fais do do
3: Joshua Radin -Everything'll Be Alright
4: Innocence Mission - Moon River
5: Yo-Yo Ma + Alison Krauss - Slumber my Darling

Great picks. One of my favorite lullabies is Vienna Teng'sLullaby for a Stormy Night.
What a cool post! I never would have thought of putting together lullaby mixes. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you so much for this post. I'm having the hardest time finding cool kids music and lullabies. I'd LOVE to hear any other recommendations that you have!
Ditto to Steph. I love every single song you've listed and would love to see more! I'm going to start making lullaby mixes for pregnant friends. Thanks for the idea!
I am so glad you listed Fais Do Do. My mother and father used to sing me this as a child, with their own words, in english. The chorus went, "Mummy loves you, Daddy loves you....
I have been singing it to my own children since they were babies, and we call it the "mommy-daddy song." I knew the melody was French, but never knew the origin.
Thanks!
I am SUCH a music girl! Thanks for the recommendations. You gotta love them.
All of my kids have their own special bedtime song I sing them. I'm so pleased you posted "Slumber My Darling," that one belongs to my third, Josh. Great idea for a post.
Here are a few more I like: Emitt Rhodes - Lullabye,(from the Royal Tenenbaum's soundtrack) James Taylor - You can close your eyes, Norah Jones - I think it's going to rain today, Matt Costa - Lullaby, and Yo-Yo Ma - playing Bach's Cello Suite #1 in G. Hope you enjoy!
A few more:
Billy Bragg & Wilco - Birds & Ships, Renee & Jeremy - Three Little Birds, Vitamin String Quartet (tribute to colplay) - In my place, Bette Midler - Baby Mine, Elizabeth Mitchell - You are my sunshine
