Colander Display

My new blog friend Beachy posted some pictures from her shop. Her colander display makes me happy.

Question: is there a scenario outside of shop ownership where one could talk oneself into owning 20+ multi-colored colanders?

As children, my brothers and my neighbors and I used to use colanders to catch crayfish in the creek- we did this everyday for weeks in summer. We always had to share the colanders- we had 3 colanders for 6 of us- what a drag that was! Can you imagine the fun of many multi-colored colanders, one for each? Crayfish-catching heaven.

Oooh...love all the pretty colors. Hmmm... yes, why 20+ multi-colored colanders would be a necessity in my kitchen? I'm trying to come up with a good scenario, as well. One that the husband would go along with... I'll let you know!

Why not own all the colors and hang them in your window? It looks so pretty.

I had teh same question while passing a display of star lanterns at IKEA. There must have been 68 of them hanging from the wall creating such a pretty picture of plentifulness (don't think this is a word). I think that if you want to own them, why not... Even just for display. Let your freak flag fly!

Hi Gabrielle - how sweet of you to mention hubby's and my shop! I have to confess that the shopkeeper I married was originally a rock-n-roll drummer (I see your references to rock music in your posts). He didn't make a living from it, but his band was rated one of Boston's Top 10 in the 80's. =) Now he dabbles in pretty colanders! =)

i have a secret love for colorful colanders. that display got me thinking... you could easily do a similar display in a kitchen, that wouldn't be too overwhelming. for as long as i could remember by mom had hooks underneath our cupboards with mugs hanging from them. you could do a similar thing with colanders. i've even seen some "mini" colorful colanders... thant might work even better!

Really pretty! I have a bright green one just like those that was a gift. But it was a gift, because I wouldn't buy one for myself at $26 a pop. So, there's another reason you might not have a multi-colored display like the one in the store - unless you have money to burn!
