Hammock for Baby
This picture is beautiful. And I like the idea of a hanging crib. I think I would like it even more without the tripod — just a simple bassinet hanging in the corner near a window. (Except that my older kids would treat it as a swing.) This crib available at La Redoute.

I love the idea of a hanging crib in the bedroom when they're newborn. someone remind me about this when I have babies!
I love the photo!
When I was baby, my parents hung a large wicker basket (I think it was one of those outdoor swings hung on its back) from the ceiling of their bedroom. It was at the foot of their bed and they used to rock it with their toes. Or so I've been told.
I saw that hammock (or one like it) on the Baby Gadget blog awhile ago. It is recently available in the states, there is also a base that looks like a large coil.... so cool.
The reality is that a baby in a hammock in our house doesn't stand a chance. It would be death trap w/ our little cubb-o running around......
That woman/room/baby looks so peaceful and serene.
Have you ever seen where my babes sleep? (when not with me.) Trend-setter that I am ;) I started using a baby hammock 14 years ago. Mine is made by Amby, and has a much smaller footprint - which works for those of us cramming children into any space we have!
i'm sure you've already seen it-but you mentioned a hanging cradle without the stand. enter the knoppa baby cradle. swedish design (of course) and beautiful graphic prints.
