A Few Things

Hello Friends! This Spring weather has me in such a good mood.
I hope we will spend the entire weekend out of doors. And I must buy some cut flowers for the house. What are you doing this weekend? Anything fun? I think we will be seeking out a steakhouse — my midwife says I'm slightly anemic and need more iron so I want to feast on steak on creamed spinach. : )

Here are some links I've been meaning to share:

-The Egg Print above is by Abby (seen on Unruly Things). It's wonderful and it reminded me I'm excited to make Easter Eggs. Any particular Easter Egg methods you're looking to try this year?

-The third issue of (online magazine) Lonny is out. I'm hoping to read it over the weekend.

-Did you see the Chanel Iceberg?

-It's a diaper and carrier in one. What do you think? Would this work for you?

-The man in your life has questions. Find the cleverly written answers — a new one written each day — here: The Rules of a Gentleman. (via UpsideUp)

-I want to make a shamrock badge.

-If you wanted to, you could add a cheery ruffle to your corkboard.

-It's called Ikea Heights. And it's a melodrama filmed entirely in an Ikea store. Except. Ikea doesn't know about it. (Warning: apparently some episodes are NSFW. Yikes.)

-For lunch today, let's just eat an entire tray of these blondies.

P.S. — Don't miss the 5-Strand Pearl Necklace up for grabs in my Leslie Lewis Giveaway. You can enter till Monday. I hope you win!

Wish I hadn't started to watch the Ikea Heights.

Here's a FOUL LANGUAGE heads up for the rest of you who don't like to hear that kind of talk.

The Kemby is so smart - I love the chocolate color. Has anyone tried this out?

For steak--try the Chophouse & Brewery next to the Rockies Stadium. If you go for lunch the prices are fairly reasonable.

Not what I expected in Ikea heights--didn't finish--you should rate it for those of us who don't like to listen to the F word.

Hee . . when I clicked over to the 'diaper and carrier in one' link, I was expecting to be grossed out just a wee bit.

But it's a diaper BAG and carrier . . ok, that makes more sense!

:)

Thanks for the Kemby Sidekick link. I've been looking for a new baby carrier/sling. Now I have another option to consider. Gee, great.

Yeah, on the Ikea Heights, I watched a couple of minutes of episode 3 (happened to be the first one I decided to watch) until the guy started flipping through a porno magazine with a full on topless shot. Yeah, not quite what I wanted to see. Especiallly with little ones around. While I think the concept is fab, I have to ask if you really like this? or did they pay you a little fee to mention them? Either way maybe a "not safe for work" mention would be good.

Last year we tried dying eggs with the silk from old ties. You've probably heard of it. If you haven't tried it, it is easy and so fun! I'd happily give pointers if you'd like the info.

Don't know if you realized this but that Ikea Heights show has the "f" word spoken twice in the first 30 seconds! YIKES!! DOn't know if it improves from that point onward, but I didn't stick around to find out. Glad my kids weren't hanging on me while I was watching.

Thanks so much for linking to my photo :) So happy you like it. MY Mom has a collection of about 100 eggs, so I just had to photograph the best.
I cannot wait to go check out that Ikea show...thanks for the link.
Happy Weekend.

My grandmother passed on the tradition of making Pysanky (Ukranian Easter Eggs) - something I look forward to doing every year. I'm sure you're kids would have a blast making them - I'd suggest ordering a kit that comes with everything (beeswax, dyes, instructions & more than 1 kistka (the writing tool).

I'm actually putting on an Easter Egg family workshop at our gallery this year, and in the spirit of the exhibiting artists it's going to be a mixed media extravaganza! I'm thinking of wrapping the eggs in rope, decoupaging them, rag tying them.. I'm on the lookout for other 'fine art' ideas, so pass them along! Oh, and the diaper bag/carrier, can you say HUGE fannypack? :)

I love the idea of the diaper bag and carrier in one...very smart thinking. BUT, I just have to say that I personally have found hip carriers to be fairly uncomfortable with just the baby's weight alone...plus the bag (don't know about yours, but mine is heavier than it should be ;)!)...just might not work. Love the thinking, though.

thanks, as always, for the great links and photos!!

I love dying brown eggs for Easter. It creates beautiful earthy tones instead of those vibrant saturated colors. Try it, I think you'll love it!

Re: new Easter egg methods, have you heard about egg cozies? Instead of coloring eggs you can slip little "costumes" over them after they're boiled! The cozies can be used as fingerpuppets afterward, or else you stuff them and close up the bottom and they make great toddler/baby toys.

My mom just started making these with crochet about a month ago and she's posted them on an Etsy shop. You can see them if you do a Sellers Search using "Buggaloo" on Etsy.

Aaack! Sorry that there was no warning on the Ikea Heights language use. The episode I previewed was clean and I didn't realize some of the episode were not. Yikes. I'll add a warning to the link list.
