Room To Grow
Woot! I'm so excited. Look what came in the mail over the weekend: my September (Back to School) issue of Parents Magazine. That's pretty exciting on its own — the issue is jam-packed with all sorts of interesting articles. But even more exciting? On page 190 you'll find the first feature article I've designed for a major magazine. Yay!
Grab your copy and take a look at Room to Grow. The 6-page article will show you how to take your room from Baby to Toddler to School Age without breaking the bank. It was a super fun project to work on. Tomorrow I'll do a post featuring some of the behind-the-scenes things I learned.
Have you seen the article? Did you like it? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

awesome congrats!
awesome gabby! I am so impressed! You totally belong in this world of magazine/ media and it makes me smile to see how your grace is landing all over the place. You rock and I'm so glad you have a platform everywhere for your rockness for all to access and learn from.
I just read this article and I absolutely loved it. I especially loved the lamp that has blocks in it!
I read it and loved it and the FIRST thing I noticed was the Sarah Jane Studios chair print on the wall! I didn't realize it was your article, but I did email Sarah Jane to tell her about it. It all makes sense because I think the first place I read about Sarah Jane was here on Design Mom, and I am the happy owner of several of her gorgeous prints thanks to you! Congrats on a great article!
Way to go!
Wow! Congrats! Looks like a great article!
That is great, Congrats!
I LOVED the article and was so excited to see that it was by you! I'm really working hard to make sure that my baby's nursery can easily be changed to a "big boy room" as he gets older and there are so many good ideas in the article! ... There were a lot of little details in the pictures though that I don't recall being mentioned in the article itself- like changing out the ribbon drawer pulls... Maybe you can give us some of the missing details that didn't make it into the mag?
Yeah! Congrats! It looks awesome, I need to go read the whole thing!
read the article and i read your blog- didnt realize it was you until now! how cool. it was a great article. thanks.
A few days ago I tore out the article to read/reference later, but had no idea you were involved with it! It definitely caught my eye as a useful (and pretty!) article. Congrats!
I loved this article! I had no idea that you were behind it. It makes sense now though.
Yay! Congratulations! Can't wait to see it in real life!
I loved this article, too!
What a great article! I love the idea of how to carry a child's room from baby to kidhood. Congratulations!
Congrats on the feature in Parents! They have good taste ;)
I did read it and was super excited to see your name attached to such a lovely and practical article. Well done!

I was reading through my copy last week and came across the article. I was so excited to see Design Mom...seriously, nerdy I know.
Great article, and full of useful ideas!
Oh how exciting! I haven't made it that far in the magazine yet, but now I can't wait. It's perfect timing as we are thinking of moving our daughter to a toddler bed soon!
Congratulations. Looks great.
Thank you so much for including my Blastoid Cat and Gorillie in the article! I've been looking for it to hit news stand and was excited to see they made it into print!

Congrats. I did see that article and thought it was such a great idea.
Congratulations Gabby! Don't skip over my article on page 64 in the SAME issue. What a thrill--espcially to be in there with you. Thanks again for referring them to me.
OH this was amazing. Great job Gabby! Thanks for including my print on the wall there. I'm getting some great new ideas for my kid's room....I already have the art...now for the GREAT furniture you included. just lovely!
Congratulations! I had already read the article, ripped it out and scanned it into my inspiration blog. I didn't even realize it was you. Makes sense though, since half the stuff you post ends up on my to-do/to-buy/to-create list.
i read the article a few weeks ago and thought it was clever. sometimes articles are something you read just a few years back, (just redone), but this one was different and fun to read! thanks!
Yay, I didn't know it was yours! I actually tore out the page with the clocks and lamps (because I just tear out the useful pages and then recycle the magazines.) The clocks are perfect-I've been looking for a clock for my son's room for a long time. Thank you!

I just read it last week (so excited when I read your name) and thought it was full of great tips. I love the idea of a room that grows with your child with a few simple changes. Great article!
You rock! That is incredibly awesome. I can't wait to get the magazine. :)
oh my gosh! i saw the article and loved it before I even read this post! way to go - it's beautiful!
Hurray! I'll be picking up a copy soon, congrats to you... and thx for including Sarah, she's thrilled. BTW, did you see her big announcement? check out her blog post today, I am soo proud of her. Note she's also doing your suggestion to do a limited number of commission pieces a month, great idea she's taking on. Many beautiful things going on for everyone, love it.
I love the colors.I need to go get a copy of the magazine so that I can read the whole thing. Congrats! What a fun project.
Congrats Gabby! I can't wait to get a copy! You're awesome!

Gabrielle! I had that issue sitting in my room and hadn't had a chance to look at it. But I was so excited once I read this post that I ran downstairs and showed Zach! That is so fun, and I love the article! Way to go!!!

Loved it, loved it, loved it!
When I flipped through my magazine I was in love with each of the rooms. Then when I read a little closer I was surprised (but not really :)) to find that they were designed by none other than you- one of my most favorite bloggers to read! I have enjoyed studying all the details-wonderful! A perfect mix of modern, vintage, and sweet!
I loved this article, and was happily surprised to see you were the force behind it.
As I'm designing a nursery for our first baby, I'm keeping in mind versatility and function as she gets older/as we have more children, so this was wonderful seeing options that would work/grow with the child! Great concept :)
Hope you do more articles in the future!
I LOVE the architecture of the room...it looks familiar...
I just read your article in the magazine and came straight to your blog ;) Congrats! Look forward to reading for the behind the scenes post.
Did you put together all that collection of products? The lamp rocks ;)
Also curious to learn how did you pitch your article to the magazine, or did they approach you? (of course, if it's not a secret ;)
I am a newbie to reading your blog...but yes, I saw the article and thought it was great, creative AND practical! And then, today I check you blog and see that you wrote it...very cool!
Congratulations! How awesome! I love following your blog. It's amazing and approachable and I love your photography! Wishing you many more articles!
This is a great article! I had already received my magazine but I had not read your article yet. Great ideas for the transition to toddlerhood and making wise purchases when designing/planning. It was also heartening to see some of my son's nursery furniture featured in the post:). It certainly helped me to visualize what I could do with it down the road, even if that means I have to buy more so new babies have a place to sleep as well:). Thanks for the information!
Oh my fabulous! Congrats G! -christine
Loved it! I've been looking for a side table for my son's nursery and I love the one you used. Where did you find the one featured in the shoot?
I just read your post on your magazine work for "Parents" As I was reading the 'behind the scenes' I knew I had just seen your work somewhere and could not think where. Until I scrolled down further and read your original post! I love the room, so so cute. Great job and congrats!
I JUST READ THIS!!!! right before I sat down at the computer, i really liked it, and thought it was super fresh and lovely, congratulations!
Loved this article! I saved the magazine and implemented some ideas into my children's room.
