Ask Design Mom Week: Interesting Wallpaper
Ask Design Mom Question (actually it's two questions):
-Do you have any suggestions where I can find some funky wallpaper? — Thanks! Olivia
-I have wanted to do wallpaper in my bathroom and I cannot find a place that have cute/different wallpaper do you have any ideas? — Thanks, Erin Garner
Design Mom Answer:
Great questions. I love that wallpaper is making a comeback! Sometimes you just crave a certain look that only wallpaper can provide. I remember my mom taking me to wallpaper stores as a child and I would flip through those giant sample books for as long as she would let me. So inspiring. I should totally go do that. . .
Anyway. In addition to a fieldtrip to the wallpaper store, I'd recommend:
-Jill Malek, hand-printed wallpapers — too nice for the bathroom! — but perfect for a touch of luxury somewhere else.
-Funky, bold colors and clean lines at Pottock Prints.
-A wide selection of beautiful designs at Fabrics and Papers.
-Options that are both childlike and sophisticated at Mini Moderns. I think their tick-tock snow would be darling in a bathroom or family space.
-This green willow paper from Warm Biscuit Kids.
-And if you're not reading Design*Sponge, you should start. Grace does a fantastic job of featuring the latest and greatest in wallpapers — and all home related design. Design*Sponge is where I found the fantastic yellow floral wallpaper in the photo.
Dear Readers, what wallpaper have you been admiring lately?

There are some wildy cool wallpapers at www.fermlivingshop.us/wallpaper. I've been eyeing two by Julia Rothman at www.wallcollection.com: "a house in the forest" and "cityscape." Used sparingly, I think they would be cute in a nursery.
that wallpaper is awesome.
Thank you for posting this, I'm looking for unique wallpaper too! I loved wallpaper books as a kid too, but for some reason, my kids don't share the love, they just whine to leave the store!
Hey Gabrielle - thank you for the kind words about our papers. Several people have used our collections in their bathrooms—it can really go anywhere!
I've moved more of the way of vinyl wall art (www.wonderfulgrafftti.com) It's removable, and more peronalizable.
Love yellow right now! So fresh, so cheerful :)
is there some sort of special treatment needed for wallpaper in bathrooms? we have it in the bathroom of our apartment (rented) and it peels off the walls from the humidity.
awesome awesome paper here: http://www.flavorleague.com/wallpaper/
sara - regarding the wallpaper in the bathroom..if its peeling off, it has less to do with the paper itself, and more to do with the actual glue that was used to install it. Also, the condition that the walls were in prior to installation can affect the paper..if the walls were not properly primed, for example, than the paper may be more likely to peel. I hope this helps!
walnutwallpaper.com has some great papers!
