Ask Design Mom: Children's Placemats

Ask-Design-Mom-Question:
Hi Design Mom. I’ve found your site in the last few months and think it’s great.
I wanted to ask you if you’ve found any great children’s placemats anywhere? I’d love any ideas you might have. Thanks! — Melissa

Design Mom Answer:
Oh. Melissa. Great question! And what a fun thing to hunt for. I'm sure Design Mom Readers will have lots of suggestions, but I'll start off and send you to My Retro Baby to check out their vintage print placemats. I especially love the robots and the toys. They're made by Dolce Mia and you can see even more at the Dolce Mia store.

I had my children create their own placemats. They worked with watercolors and other media on placemat sized, stiff watercolor paper, then I had them lamenated. They love eating on their own artwork, and the placemats make great gifts for relatives too!

www.olivekids.com has fun colorful placemats that can be personalized with your child's name. We have everything from trains, planes and trucks to mermaid and pirates We also offer a collection of holiday placemats.

Some great ideas for placemat are, giving them as birthday party favors personalized with the child's name. For Thanksgiving I had placemats made for all the kids in my family (13 of them); they never wanted to sit at the kids table before but now they feel special! Even the big kids liked them

It was funny to see Olive Kids here as I just purchased them for my son's birthday favors. I selected the pirate design and all the kids loved them and so did the parent! It was a fun easy way to do birthday favors...and they last long after the birthday has past.
